Varanasi is a very popular pilgrimage point for Hindus, and the older part of Varanasi, which has thrived on the banks of the river Ganga, is an integral part of the very infrastructure of the city, with thousands of people flocking there for salvation and purification. All chaos and noise on the ghats of Varanasi take a pause when the Ganga Aarti takes place in the evening, a ceremony of immense grandeur and opulence, with pandits lining up to perform rituals that are no less than a performance for the senses.
The city in and around the ghats has a certain rhythm to it. Narrow maze-like lanes and by-lanes arouse instant intrigue and fascination, while the street art dotting the stretch alongside the ghats makes for a great outpouring of artistic expression. Varanasi also boasts of a marvelous architectural heritage, as can be seen in the scores of temples dotting the city.
Attend the Saptarishi Arti at 7.00 p.m at Kashi Vishwanath Temple. This temple of Lord Shiva, the presiding deity of the city,is also known as Golden Temple. Varanasi is said to be the place where the first Jyotirlinga,the fiery pillar of light by which Lord Shiva manifested his supremacy over other gods, broke through the earths crust. More than the Ghats and even the river Ganga, it is the Shivalinga installed in the temple that remains the devotional focus of Varanasi. Open only to Hindus. After breakfast at hotel drive to Chitrakoot (Madhya Pradesh). According to Hindu Mythology Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana spent eleven and half years of their fourteen years of exile. Visit Ramghat, Kamadgiri, Bharat Milap, Janaki Kund, etc.Later return to Allahabad and overnight stay in the hotel at Allahabad.
After breakfast at hotel proceed to Ayodhya. On arrival visit to Ram Janmbhumi - the birth place of lord Rama and other temples. Later proceed to Lucknow.On arrival check into the hotel and overnight stay in Lucknow.
After breakfast at hotel proceed to Naimisaranya. The Mahabhrata was composed by Vedavyas in this forest.A dip in the river Gomati at this spot is considered to be very sacred ritual.Later return to Lucknow and drop at Lucknow for onwards journey,End of the Tour.
