Located in Trikuta hills, 13 km from Katra at the height of 1560 m above sea level with bright clouds and thinning air, this town is the holy cave temple of Mata Vaishnodevi, with spirituality and vibrancy lingering in the atmosphere. Vaishno Devi is a religious trekking destination where pilgrims walk about 13 km uphill to reach the little caves which is among one of the 108 Shakti Peetha. Vaishno Devi, also known as Mata Rani is a manifestation of Durga, a Goddess according to Hindu mythology. The trek itself is very enjoyable, though it might be a little difficult for kids and elderly people. However, ponies and palanquins are available by various vendors to take you there at the top.
With endless meadows and panoramic views of the snow capped peaks of the Himalayas, Patnitop is a perfect place to experience nature at its picturesque best and widest. Along with the widespread abundance in sceneries, the area is accessorized with activities like skiing and trekking as well as water springs, all together making it a popular tourist destination. Sanasar, located 17 kms away is also popular for a paragliding base, golf courses along with extended sightseeing options. Early morning after breakfast, check out from hotel & proceed to Patnitop, a famous Hill Station (95 Kms from Katra). You will pass through town of Udhampur and first hill resort of this Circuit, Kud (1738 m). It is picturesque town located just 6 Km short of Patnitop. You can have Tea and refreshment here. Patnitop is a famous hill resort perched on a beautiful plateau, at an altitude of 2024 metres across which the Jammu-Srinagar Highway passes. Check into the hotel. In the after noon, proceed to Sanasar (25 Kms from Patnitop). Sanasar is a cup shaped meadow surrounded by gigantic conifers. Back to Katra in the evening. Overnight stay at Katra.
Early morning after breakfast, proceed to Shiv Khori – the Holy Cave abode of Lord Shiva situated at a distance of 70 Kms from Katra. The cave is a real wonder to be seen and measures nearly half a kilometer in length with a 4 feet high naturally formed Shiv-lingam at the heart of the Sanctum Sanctorum. Have Darshans of Lord Shiva and In the evening, proceed to Jammu, en route visit Surinsar Lake. Finally, drop at Jammu Railway Staion/Airport for onward journey.
